Man construction in Text

In the texture, constructing a male character——especially when he is a masculine character, the use of words for description is very symbolical.

For a male character, or a man in the text, writers prefer to describe him in a wild and rude way based on the fact. Male characters are mainly related to adventure, combat, power and all these factors that have the hidden meaning related to manhood and aggressive. Using the vocabulary which suit the ancient representative feature of male in a proper degree can help the writer——the audience, too, to feel the character and to understand better in this form of construction.

Reflection on gender limitation

Limitation based on the difference of gender is everywhere in the society. For some action that women are accepted to do while men are not socially allowed to do the similar things. Some jobs that men are more accepted than women. And there is also expectation for both genders that made by the society, like the women have to be kind, good at chores and such; men should work to earn money for the family.

Writing

你们好,my name is Yuhan Lu or you can call me Nelson. I am the eldest son of my family and I am a 16 years old and in grade 11 . Ethically, I am a  Han Chinese from the North of China. Now I live in Somerset in Kunningan, Jakarta. My school is the Australian Independent School, in Pejaten Jakarta (AIS) I came to Jakarta a year earlier with my father for his job movement to here.
I am a man with wide width. I Look like a farmer who got accidentally hit by lightning and became intelligent ever since that. In the school most of the students are “foreign” to me because I am the only Chinese in the whole school of Pejaten.  It leads my sense of National pride which makes me feel that I should study hard and do things well.
I do Mathematics, Physics, Music, English B, Indonesian abinitio and Business. I think some subjects are quite challenging because I haven’t ever deeply studied about them. I do swimming, table tennis, green team and concert band for CCAs. I chose them because I used to be a swimmer and I play trumpet when I was doing music in Grade 10, so I joined the concert band. I feel like to do these because they are quite interesting and I really enjoy Music.
I like reading, gaming and watching movies and music. I don’t like it if someone disturbs me when I am concentrating! I value my family, my country and my tradition. These are the things I was born into and they are an important part that makes me who I am.
My country’s culture and traditions make me who I am. My identity is lead by my culture, it hardly changes.

Values Auction

An auction is a good way to tell what does whom values or does not value it as others do.The difference between boys and girls are quite clear—— girls bet more about future events and which is a long time value, for example, they bet for feeling safe in the community they live in, they bet for finding work that they like, having child and so on.Boys bet for different things about sorts of self-condition and some value that has a directly shown value like being physically strong/muscular. Girls seems prefer to chose the value that can ensure a clear and a stable route of future and they appear that girls want more about the sense of safety. Boys intend to improve their self-condition and a chance of change in their life or more constant situation, like living according to the religious beliefs that I follow, find the right person to love, getting high school diploma and so on. But there are some thing commonly that both girls and boys want, generally some social values like never getting mixed up with drugs, avoiding sexually transmitted disease, these values listed are commonly wanted by all the people in the society, because they are bad things to their social life and individual life.

Me and my family values our religion very much, we follow the rules of our religion and our tradition. As like our own culture, religion is a important factor that makes me who I am. And I also value not taking advantage of another person, because I want my life to be individual and not widely effected by other factors like society and relative, etc. It is important to live without mostly relying on other people but yourself, that proves the meaning of our life.

This Assessment Task has been a precious experience. The Data I collected was —— boring, actually, but that doesn’t have any effect on that it is a truth of people who are suffering and how cruel the fact is.

Hunger banquet

What was the simulation?

A simulation to be one of the lower level people who has a difficult situation.

Who was your character?

A man who got HIV/AIDS years ago and it reached the level that he can’t go to work which made him unable to pay for his medical treatment.

What happened to your character?

The disease forced him to remain on bed and he was not able to work and he spent all his money but still can’t afford the payment.

How did this process make you feel?

It feels really bad to watch someone who has a disease suffer just because he have no money to afford the payment of the treatment, the world should consider more about poor people’s health problems and lower the cost of the medicines.

What did you learn about society through this process?

It shows that the society still needs improvement on caring about poverty’s health and their work.
